On the sūtra's words from "Going and coming, advancing and stopping" to "without contention and without dispute," the Commentary states: This second part is cultivating moral practice, being free from physical faults. "Going and coming, advancing and stopping, their feelings are unbound, free according to their will"—being free from mental faults, "without partiality or aversion, without other and without self." Master Fawei says: "Shi [適] means to go, and mo [莫] means to stop." If so, it should be the same as going and stopping, freeing from physical faults. Here it is solely from the Analects: "Has no partiality or aversion towards the world." Shi means close/favoritism; mo means distant/estrangement. Being free from faults of speech, there is "no contention and no dispute." Both other and self are ended, hence there is no contention or dispute.
