The sūtra says: from "manifesting clarity and purity" up to "proclaiming and spreading the orthodox transformation." The commentary states: This fourth part concludes the propagation of the orthodox. Removing the heterodox and manifesting the orthodox, it is called 'manifesting'. Transcending all slander, it is called 'clarity and purity'; this is sternly guarding the Dharma citadel. 'Radiant' (光) means extensive; 'harmonious' (融) means unimpeded. Extensively harmonizing the noble practices, it is called 'radiantly harmonizing the Buddhadharma'. Guiding and transforming without interruption, it is called 'proclaiming and spreading'; 'Dharma transformation' is opening and clarifying the Dharma gate. In summary: sternly [adorning] the Dharma citadel, it is manifested; guarding the Dharma citadel, it is pure and white; opening the Dharma gate, it is radiantly harmonious; clarifying the Dharma gate, it is proclaimed and spread.
