The sūtra says: from "the Tathāgata's transformation of the Path" up to "guiding and leading the multitudes." The commentary states: This subsequent part praises external transformation. There are two parts: this initial part is the characteristic of transformation. Because bodhisattvas universally serve as reflections aiding and promulgating the Buddha's affairs: being able to proclaim the transformation of the Path is expounding the Dharma identically to the Buddha; demonstrating the practice of the Buddha's transformation and thus serving as masters of bodhisattvas is transforming beings identically to the Buddha; profound dhyāna and wisdom is transformative practice identical to the Buddha—though practices of dhyāna-calm and wisdom-contemplation are numerous, their essence lies in these two; guiding and leading the multitudes is benefiting beings identically to the Buddha, because 'opening' causes them to begin learning, and 'guiding' causes them to reach final maturity.
