1.65

答曰：「韋提得忍，出在第七觀初。經云：『佛告韋提：「佛當為汝分別解說除苦惱法。」說是語時，無量壽佛住立空中，觀音勢至侍立左右。時韋提應時得見，接足作禮，歡喜讚歎，即得無生法忍。』何以得知？如下利益分中說言：『得見佛身及二菩薩，心生歡喜，歎未曾有。廓然大悟得無生忍。』非是光臺中見國時得也。」

I answer: Vaidehī's attainment of forbearance appears at the beginning of the seventh contemplation. The sūtra says: 'The Buddha addressed Vaidehī: "The Buddha shall now analyze and explain for you the dharma that eliminates suffering and distress." While these words were being spoken, Amitāyus Buddha stood in the air, with Avalokiteśvara and Mahāsthāmaprāpta attending and standing on his left and right. At that time, Vaidehī saw them at once, bowed touching their feet, and rejoicing and praising, she immediately attained the forbearance of the non-arising of dharmas (anutpattika-dharma-kṣānti).' How is this known? As it says below in the section on benefits: 'Attaining the sight of the Buddha's body and the two bodhisattvas, she gave rise to joy in her mind, marveling at what she had never experienced before. Vastly awakening, she attained the forbearance of the unborn.' It was not attained at the time she saw the land within the tower of light.
