Second, from “There was a crown prince” down to “following the instruction of an evil friend,” it directly explains that in a state of confusion and delusion, King [Ajātaśatru] placed faith in and accepted the deception of an evil person. The word “crown prince” clarifies his rank. The name “Ajātaśatru” reveals his name. Moreover, “Ajātaśatru” is the correct pronunciation from the Western Regions; previously translated here, it means “Unborn Enmity” and is also called “Broken Finger.”
