「三者欲令眾生識知彌陀依正二報，種種莊嚴光明等相，內外照曜，超過此日百千萬倍。行者等若不識彼境光相者，即看此日輪光明之相。若行住坐臥，禮念憶想，常作此解。不久之間，即得定心，見彼淨土之事快樂莊嚴。為此義故，世尊先教作日想觀也。」

"Third, he wished to cause sentient beings to recognize that the various signs of adornment and radiance of Amitābha's primary and circumstantial retributions illuminate inwardly and outwardly, exceeding this sun hundreds of thousands of myriad times over. If practitioners do not recognize the signs of radiance of that realm, they should look upon the signs of radiance of this sun disk. Whether walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, prostrating, reciting, or mindfully recollecting, they should always maintain this understanding. Before long, they will attain the concentrated mind and see the affairs, bliss, and adornments of that Pure Land. It is for this reason that the World-Honoured One first taught the practice of the sun contemplation."
