Seventh, from "when the flower blossoms" down to "eight liberations," it directly clarifies, under the eleventh gateway, the differences in benefits gained after the flower opens. This consists of three points: First, it clarifies that the jeweled flower opens immediately, which is due to the vigor of their observance of the precepts. Second, it clarifies that the sounds of the Dharma together praise the virtue of the Four Noble Truths. Third, it clarifies that upon arriving there and hearing the Four Noble Truths expounded, they immediately attain the fruit of an arhat. "Arhat" is translated here as "unborn," and also as "unattached": because causes are extinguished, they are unborn; because fruits are discarded, they are unattached. The "three clarities" are the knowledge of past lives, the divine eye, and the extinction of outflows. The "eight liberations" are: possessing inner form and contemplating external form is the first liberation; lacking inner form and contemplating external form is the second liberation; contemplating the mark of impurity is the third liberation; together with the four formless attainments and cessation, these constitute eight in total.
