Fifth, from "Those who contemplate this ground" down to "the mind attains freedom from doubt," it directly explains the benefits of the contemplation. Here there are four points: first, it explains pointing to the Dharma, indicating only to contemplate the jeweled ground and not discuss other objects; second, it explains that by contemplating the untainted jeweled ground, one can eradicate the tainted sins of many kalpas; third, it explains that after relinquishing this body, one is certain to be born in the Pure Land; fourth, it explains cultivating the cause with right mindfulness without intermingling doubt—even though one attains rebirth, if doubt remains, one remains within the unopened flower, or is born on the borderland, or falls into a palace-womb; or because a bodhisattva of great compassion enters the samādhi of opening flowers, the obstacle of doubt is eradicated, the palace-flower opens, their bodily marks become fully manifest, and Dharma companions take them by the hand to wander in the Buddha's assembly. Thus, focusing the mind to see the jeweled ground instantly extinguishes past obstacles and sinful transgressions. When the karma of vows and practice is complete, at the end of life one will unquestionably be reborn. Now, having seen these supreme benefits, one is further exhorted to discern the erroneous and the correct.
