"'How should you form this visualization? All who form this visualization—all sentient beings, unless they are blind from birth, all those with eyes—see the setting sun.'" The directions are vast and indistinct without anything to mark them; here, the setting sun is seen by all who have eyes. It is obvious and easy to contemplate, and can serve as a standard. The commentary says: "The setting sun like a suspended drum is used to mark the direction toward which to send one's thought"—this is precisely what it means. Saying "form this visualization": "visualization" is contemplation. To lose one's eyes while in the womb is called being "blind from birth." Second, the mental contemplation that can contemplate it has four parts: first, showing the deportment of cultivation; second, showing the marks of contemplation; third, revealing the marks of success; fourth, exhorting constant contemplation. First, showing the deportment of cultivation.
