"‘Abandoning the body in another life, one will certainly be born in the pure land, and one's mind will have no doubt.’" If this contemplation is accomplished, rebirth is already assured. For instance, the eminent Tang monk Daxing built a hut on Mount Tai to cultivate pure karma; before three times seven days had passed, he saw the lapis lazuli ground, and his mind's eye was thoroughly illuminated. Later, when he fell ill, that ground appeared again, whereupon he said: "I have not been practicing contemplation, yet the jeweled ground appears again; how could I have no affinity with Sukhāvatī?" On that very day he passed away at his dwelling. Fourth, discerning the incorrect and the correct, in two parts: first, revealing the correct; second, distinguishing the incorrect. First, revealing the correct.
