"‘Each flower and leaf produces the colors of different jewels: from within the lapis lazuli color issues golden light; from within the crystal color issues red light; from within the agate color issues giant-clam-shell light; from within the giant-clam-shell color issues green real-pearl light; with coral, amber, and all the host of jewels serving as gleaming adornments.’" The jewel colors and lights intermingle with the five colors: the azure color of lapis lazuli emits yellow light; the green-blue color of crystal emits red light; the red color of agate emits white; the white color of giant clam emits green light. If we follow the Larger Sūtra, amber and seven-jeweled trees fill the world all around; trees of gold, silver, lapis lazuli, crystal, coral, agate, giant clam, and so forth are formed from two jewels, three jewels, up to seven jewels mutually combined in turn, broadly as explained there; this is what is meant by "the host of jewels serving as gleaming adornments." Third, the pearl nets, in four parts: first, showing the number of tiers; second, the palaces between the nets; third, the youths in the palaces; fourth, the light of the pearl necklaces. First, showing the number of tiers.
