「『上品下生者，』」二、釋，四：初、修因；二、感緣；三、得生；四、生後益。初、修因，二：初、有信發心；二、迴向願求。初、有信發心。

"‘As for those of the lower birth of the higher grade,’" Second, explaining, in four parts: first, cultivating causes; second, eliciting conditions; third, attaining birth; fourth, benefits after birth. First, cultivating causes, in two parts: first, having faith and generating the [bodhi-]mind; second, dedicating [merit] and aspiring. First, having faith and generating the [bodhi-]mind.
