3.68

「『是故智者應當繫心諦觀無量壽佛。』」智者，即自修觀之人。依前觀法，即是諦觀。以修此觀往生得忍，功深利大，故勸繫心。故《般舟經》眾生問佛何因緣故得生此國？彌陀答言：以修念佛三昧得生彼國也。二、教入處，二，初、觀一相；二、觀一佛。初、觀一相。

"[The Buddha said:] 'Therefore, the wise should focus their minds and attentively contemplate the Buddha Amitāyus.'" "The wise" refers to those who cultivate contemplation themselves. Relying on the preceding contemplation method is "attentive contemplation." Because cultivating this contemplation yields rebirth and the realization of patience, with deep efficacy and immense benefit, one is exhorted to focus the mind. Thus in the Pratyutpanna Sūtra, sentient beings ask the Buddha: "By what cause and condition does one attain rebirth in this land?" Amitāyus replies: "By cultivating the buddhānusmṛti-samādhi, one attains rebirth in that land." Second, teaching the entry point, which has two parts: first, contemplating a single mark; second, contemplating a single Buddha. First, contemplating a single mark.
