"The Great Queen of the state, named Vaidehī, revering the Great King, bathed cleanly, smeared her body with roasted flour mixed with ghee and honey, filled her garlands with grape juice, and secretly presented them to the king." "Vaidehī" is translated here as "Contemplation." Having received this name earlier, it served as an omen for her requesting the contemplations today. She bathed her body to make it pure, and secretly smeared her body with the flour paste; the garlands were hollow inside and could hold the fruit juice. Sneaking into the deep chamber, it is therefore called "secretly." Third, the king requests the precepts, which again has three parts: 1. the king speaks of Maudgalyāyana; 2. Maudgalyāyana responds to the capacity; 3. the Buddha sends Pūrṇa to preach the Dharma. First, the king requests Maudgalyāyana.
