"When he had spoken these words, the Buddha Amitāyus stood in the midst of the sky, with Avalokiteśvara and Mahāsthāmaprāpta, these two Great Beings, standing in attendance to his left and right. His radiance was so blazing that it could not be completely seen; the golden color of hundreds of thousands of Jambūnada [golds] could not compare to it." Earlier, the terrace of light manifested the land and caused Vaidehī to see it, which served as the cause for initiating her request concerning the dependent reward; hence it stated, "By the Buddha's power I was able to see that realm," and so forth. Now the three noble ones arrive together, serving as the cause for initiating the request concerning the direct reward; hence it states, "Due to the Buddha's power, I have been able to see the Buddha," and so forth. That the Buddha stood in the midst of the sky while the two noble ones stood in attendance provides clear evidence for the standing images of the three noble ones. Since even the golden color of Jambūnada cannot compare, one knows that his light cannot be fully seen. Third, the lady's request on behalf of future [beings], which has two parts: first, seeing the Buddha and paying homage; second, addressing the Buddha to present the request. First, seeing the Buddha and paying homage.
