Answer: "According to the *Contemplation Sūtra*, the *Sukhāvatīvyūha Sūtra*, and the like, there are only three kinds of śrāvakas there, and none of excessive pride. How is this known? According to this land, there are those of excessive pride, or evil Māras acting as Buddhas who manifest and grant them prophecies, whereupon they think to themselves, 'Why is there anything to be attained?', believing their realization of nirvāṇa to be identical to that of great arhats; or there are those who while sitting attain the four dhyānas and say they have attained the four fruits, immediately conceiving of themselves as arhats and the like, and receiving offerings from others. According to the *Tattvasiddhi-śāstra*, such a person will later experience sorrow and affliction, meaning that when their life is about to end, seeing the intermediate existence signs of the three evil paths appear, they immediately produce sorrow and affliction. Because that land lacks this, there are none [of excessive pride]. The *Sūtra of Pure Enlightenment* says: The bodhisattvas and arhats in that land speak with one another, all discussing the path of the sūtras and not speaking of other matters; their voices are like three hundred rolls of thunder, and they all revere and love one another without mutual hatred or jealousy, completely preserving seniority and hierarchy."
