1.81

答：「據元意，但結集者教作此言。然《大悲經》第四云：佛將涅槃，執阿難手付屬一切佛法，及第五卷教結集法用。又《處胎經》第五，當結集時令阿難昇座，迦葉告言：『佛所說法一言一字汝勿缺漏，菩薩藏、聲聞藏、律藏等各集一處。』時阿難即言：『如是我聞。』即是阿難稱我聞也。」

Answer: "According to the original intention, the compiler was simply instructed to make this statement. However, the fourth fascicle of the *Dabei jing* states that when the Buddha was about to enter nirvāṇa, he took Ānanda by the hand and entrusted all the Buddha's teachings to him, and the fifth fascicle taught the procedure for compiling the scriptures. Furthermore, the fifth fascicle of the *Chutai jing* states that at the time of the compilation, Ānanda was made to ascend the seat, and Kāśyapa addressed him, saying: 'Do not omit a single word or single syllable of the Dharma preached by the Buddha; compile the Bodhisattva Piṭaka, Śrāvaka Piṭaka, Vinaya Piṭaka, and so forth, each in its own place.' At that time Ānanda said: 'Thus have I heard.' This is Ānanda declaring 'have I heard'."
