As for "Aniruddha," in Sanskrit he is called Aniruddha, which is translated as "Non-Extinction." He was the Buddha's paternal cousin. Calling him "Anoutuo" is corrupt; it should be written with the character "luo". In a past life, he once offered a meal to a pratyekabuddha, so for fifty kalpas his fortune was not extinguished. Furthermore, in a past life, he was once a hunter who wished to steal the urna jewel; using an arrow, he trimmed the lamp, and upon beholding the Buddha's marks and signs, he gave rise to an exalted mind, discarded his bow and arrows, and vowed never to harm life. By the power of this good cause, he was able to leave home in the present life, but his excessive sleep obstructed his practice of meditation. The Buddha rebuked him; ashamed to face the great assembly, he slept no more, and thereupon attained the divine eye. For this venerable one, the minor good root of trimming the lamp brought the extraordinary merit of the divine eye, and the slight cause of offering food brought forth an inexhaustible field of merit; hence it is called "hosting the Saṅgha."
