Answer: 'If we speak of Tuṣita, it is indeed superior to the human world, but compared to the western realm, it becomes entirely slight and inferior. Since superior and inferior differ, the two places are distinct; exhorted to be born in the west, one abandons the inferior and seeks the superior. Regarding the difference between superior and inferior, the Pure Land has ten superiorities, and the heavenly palace has ten inferiorities. The ten superiorities of the Pure Land are: 1. the superiority of the dwelling of the transforming lord; 2. the superiority of the long lifespan of those being transformed; 3. the superiority of the land not being bound to the realms; 4. the superiority of the pure realm being free of desire; 5. the superiority of women not residing there; 6. the superiority of non-retrogression in practice; 7. the superiority of the pure realm not being defiled; 8. the superiority of the adornment of the land; 9. the superiority of recollection of the Buddha gathering the mind; 10. the superiority of rebirth through ten recitations. The ten inferiorities of the heavenly palace are: 1. the inferiority of the land inhabited; 2. the inferiority of the short lifespan of those being transformed; 3. the inferiority of being bound to and belonging to the realm; 4. the inferiority of that heaven having desire; 5. the inferiority of men and women dwelling together; 6. the inferiority of retrogression in practice; 7. the inferiority of being a defiled realm and not pure; 8. the inferiority of the adornment of the land; 9. the inferiority of wholesome mindfulness gathering the mind; 10. the inferiority of practice being laborious and difficult. Because there are these ten superiorities and ten inferiorities, one is exhorted to be born in that land.'
