The commentary states: The fourth [section is] the benefit of the exhortation to rebirth. Regarding 'superior good persons': 'good' refers to benefiting beings in the past and present; 'persons' refers to the aforementioned śrāvakas, non-retrogressing bodhisattvas, bodhisattvas bound to one birth, and so on. They all assemble together in one place in the west. Advancing in practice under the same teacher necessarily relies on good conditions; joining with companions to create enmity relies on evil factions. Mencius's mother moved her residence to a superior place; Confucius would not drink from the Robber's Spring. This is surely being ashamed of evil and yearning for good. Yearning for good, fragrant orchids convey blessings; consorting with evil, the dried-fish market brings rank odors. Exhorting rebirth in the west is to draw near to superior companions.'
