The commentary states: The third [section is] the holy assembly coming to welcome. 'This person' refers to the practitioner who has recollected the Buddha for seven days. 'When approaching the end of life' means that when the lifespan of this single retribution is about to end, that Buddha and all the holy assembly—that is, the bodhisattvas, śrāvakas, and others of that land—manifest their forms before the practitioner who cultivates recollection of the Buddha, just as Chan Master Zhen of the Liang dynasty saw a silver terrace, or seeing a transformed Buddha coming to welcome them.
