1.14

In the third passage there are three merits. The pond water and golden sands are the perfection of the merit of adorning the water, as the verse of the treatise says: "The ponds are lined with the seven treasures, / Their clear waters contain the eight virtues; / Below is accumulated yellow gold sand, / Above shines the colour of blue lotuses." The steps, paths, and pavilions possessing gold, silver, and so forth are the perfection of the merit of diverse things, as the verse of the treatise says: "Endowed with the nature of all precious jewels, / Complete with wondrous adornments." The lotuses as large as chariot wheels, blue-coloured with blue light, and so forth, are the merit of the perfection of adorning wonderful colours, as the verse of the treatise says: "Spotless light blazes brilliantly, / Bright and pure, illuminating the world."
