1.72

舍利弗下，二、明願生功德。又二：一舉願顯益。若已生等者，過去已發願者已生，現在今發願者今生，未來當發願者當生。是故下，二、約信結勸。佛法大海信為能入，智為能度故。

From "Śāriputra" onward, second, explaining the merit of vowing to be born there. This also has two parts: first, adducing the vow to demonstrate the benefit. As for "if they have already been born, etc.": those who made the vow in the past have already been born; those who now make the vow in the present are being born now; those who will make the vow in the future will be born in the future. From "Therefore" onward, second, concluding the exhortation based on faith. Because in the great ocean of the Buddha's Dharma, faith is that by which one is able to enter, and wisdom is that by which one is able to cross over.
