Master Yuan of Gushan composed the Commentary on the Amitābha Sūtra, and later subcommented on it under the title Xizi (Aid for the West). It was not seen in circulation in our country, which scholars deeply regretted. Recently, having by chance obtained the Expository Commentary, I corrected and carved it on printing blocks so that scholars might be spared the labor of copying it by hand. In future days, if anyone obtains the subcommentary and it circulates in the world alongside this commentary, would that not be of great aid to practitioners [aspiring to] the Western Land? I silently hope for this!
