答：「若無平時七日工夫，安有臨終十念一念？縱令《觀經》所明下品下生五逆十惡之人現世不曾修行，竝是夙因成熟，故感臨終得遇善友聞便信願，如此等事萬中無一，豈可不預辨資糧乃僥倖於萬一哉！」

Answer: "Without the effort of seven days during ordinary times, how could there be ten recitations or a single recitation at the end of life? Even though the Contemplation Sūtra clarifies that people of the lowest birth of the lowest grade who commit the five heinous acts and the ten unwholesome deeds had not practiced in their present life, all of them had past causes maturing, which stimulated them at the end of life to encounter a good friend and immediately believe and aspire upon hearing. Such cases are not one in ten thousand; how could one fail to prepare provisions in advance and instead rely on a one-in-ten-thousand fluke?"
