"And" also speaks with respect to the aforementioned śrāvakas and bodhisattvas. Śakra Devendra translates here as "able to be lord"; he is the king of Trāyastriṃśa Heaven who rules over the four continents. "And others" includes below him the Four Heavenly Kings, and above him the Yāma, Tuṣita, Nirmāṇarati, Paranirmitavaśavartin, and even the form and formless realms, hence it says "an immeasurable assembly of devas". Furthermore, saying "together with the great assembly" indicates that the eight classes of beings, asuras, humans, and non-humans, were all present at the assembly without exception; there was none who was not a capacity embraced by the Pure Land Dharma gate. The general preface concludes.
