10.181

案僧亮曰：文字所表理也。法瑤曰：經之宗致，極於金剛長壽者也。是則說經大體，粗略已訖，是以命迦葉囑累此經，令受持也。僧宗曰：以文理勝故，有大功德也。善受持者，不必領受所持持使不失，但在所弘通化傳不絕者也，即是因經解脫到彼岸矣。

Sengliang notes: The written words express the principle. Fayao notes: The central purport of the sūtra reaches its climax with the adamantine and long-lived one. This means the general substance of expounding the sūtra has roughly finished, which is why Kāśyapa was charged and entrusted with this sūtra, commanding him to accept and uphold it. Sengzong notes: Because its expression and principle are supreme, it possesses great merit. As for 'skilfully accepting and upholding', it does not necessarily mean to receive and hold it in mind so as not to lose it, but rather consists in propagating, circulating, and transmitting it without interruption, which is precisely reaching the other shore through vimokṣa by means of the sūtra.
