案僧宗曰：生死非我，橫生我心，此是取著，應斷也。佛性是理，不斷此也。

Sengzong states: Birth-and-death is not the self, yet arbitrarily one gives rise to the thought of a self—this is clinging and attachment, which ought to be cut off. Buddhadhātu is the principle; this is not cut off.
