15.19

案法瑤曰：八人之名，名復濫佛。從佛下數至此地為第八，從此地上數至佛復是第八。今以菩薩名之，居然非佛第八也。

Fayao notes: The name 'eighth person' might also be confused with the Buddha. Counting downward from the Buddha, this stage is the eighth; counting upward from this stage, the Buddha is again the eighth. Now designating him as a bodhisattva makes it clear that he is not the Buddha as the eighth.
