15.33

案僧宗曰：此問意明四依無益。何者？若力能降魔者，則不假四依；若不能降，則形儀相亂，云何可尋？智秀曰：此第二翻難。

Sengzong notes: The intention of this question clarifies that the four refuges are of no benefit. Why? If one has the power to subdue Māra, then one does not depend on the four refuges; if one cannot subdue him, then their deportment and forms are confounded with each other, so how can they be discerned? Zhixiu says: This is the second challenge.
