案僧亮曰：譬三修以防惡也。慧朗曰：三慧，聞慧如弓、思慧如箭、修慧如𨦫等也。
Sengliang notes: This analogizes the three cultivations to guard against evil. Huilang says: The three wisdoms—wisdom from hearing is like the bow, wisdom from reflection is like the arrow, and wisdom from cultivation is like the lance, and so forth.
