案僧亮曰：魔如偷狗，設使詐為佛相，其內無法，若見聲聞不怖畏者，則不能亂。
Sengliang notes: Māra is like the thieving dog; even if he falsely assumes the Buddha's form, he lacks the Dharma within. If he sees that the Śrāvaka is not afraid, he will not be able to cause confusion.
