15.79

案僧亮曰：為行經者，作譬也。僧宗曰：中有三譬。初譬明不假四依人；次譬明小乘者不須四依人；後譬明是四依人。後譬明行大乘者，已自流通，何待弘化耶？

Sengliang comments: A simile is provided for those who practice the sūtra. Sengzong says: There are three similes within this. The first simile clarifies not relying on the persons of the four refuges; the next simile clarifies that followers of the Small Vehicle do not need the persons of the four refuges; the last simile clarifies that they are the persons of the four refuges. The last simile clarifies that those who practice the Great Vehicle propagate it naturally of themselves; how could they wait for external dissemination?
