案僧亮曰：市是貿易之所，喻施主之家，有彼此相資之義也。分僧供養，功由請者，喻如賣也。

Sengliang notes: The market is a place of trade, an analogy for the household of a donor, bearing the meaning of mutual reliance between both parties. Sharing offerings with the Saṃgha, where the merit depends on the inviter, is an analogy for selling.
