Sengliang comments: The milk of the teaching of permanence is the dharma that nourishes the good child. Speaking of non-self is analogized by little, and speaking of self is analogized by much; both use milk as an analogy. That curing proceeds by way of expedient means is analogized by the instruction. Because the false self has not yet dissipated, one must not say that the dharmakāya is the ātman. Sengzong comments: Teaching permanence is real wisdom, while teaching impermanence is expedient wisdom. At that time, one could only teach the expedient and could not yet teach the real. Because the expedient and the real are interrelated, in sense it is called 'telling' her. It is not that she does not give milk; rather, the time for giving it has not yet arrived, hence it says 'for the time being.' Because expedient wisdom is directly teaching impermanence, and real wisdom knows the time has not yet arrived and does not teach permanence, it says 'for the time being do not.'
