18.211

案僧亮曰：生死苦切，解緣還感，悟時已至，機來扣聖，命醫之義也。僧宗曰：第三譬也。應感道交，有召命之義也。寶亮曰：眾生有善有苦，二緣感佛，見佛則能滅苦，故言療治。

Sengliang states: The suffering of saṃsāra is pressing, the conditions for understanding return to respond, the time of awakening has arrived, and the capacity comes to knock upon the sage—this is the meaning of summoning the physician. Sengzong states: The third analogy. Resonance and capacity intersect on the path, which has the meaning of calling and summoning. Baoliang states: Sentient beings have goodness and have suffering; these two conditions stimulate the Buddha. Seeing the Buddha, they are able to extinguish suffering; hence it says 'treat it'.
