案僧亮曰：醫譬佛也。善除八倒，譬知方藥也。僧宗曰：即釋迦治惑病，故稱醫。了達經教之方，妙窮淵旨之藥。

Sengliang states: The physician represents the Buddha. Being skilled in eliminating the eight inversions is compared to knowing prescriptions and medicines. Sengzong states: This is Śākyamuni treating the illness of delusion, hence he is called a physician. He thoroughly understands the prescriptions of the scriptural teachings and wonderfully plumbs the medicines of the profound purport.
