18.215

案僧亮曰：緣失解成惑，致有生死也。僧宗曰：醫見瘡故，知因入體。佛見眾生流轉五道，知由橫起妄常之計，失於本解也。

Sengliang states: Conditioning the loss of understanding to form delusion brings about saṃsāra. Sengzong states: Because the physician sees the sore, he knows it is due to [the pearl] having entered the body. When the Buddha sees sentient beings transmigrating through the five destinies, he knows it is due to arbitrarily giving rise to the reckoning of false permanence and losing their original understanding.
