案僧亮曰：知非久失，故曰停住。法瑤曰：佛性之理，終為心用。雖復暫為煩惱所隱，如珠在皮中，出不久也。僧宗曰：圓解之理，無時暫絕。乃可事有廢興，其理常存，如停住也。寶亮曰：雖復失解於當時，而本機猶不喪也。

Sengliang states: Knowing that it is not a permanent loss, it is therefore said to remain resting there. Fayao states: The principle of the buddhadhātu will ultimately be utilized by the mind. Although temporarily concealed by afflictions, like the pearl in the skin, it will emerge before long. Sengzong states: The principle of complete understanding is never cut off even for an instant. Although in phenomena there may be abandonment and flourishing, the principle constantly abides, just like remaining resting there. Baoliang states: Although understanding was lost at that time, the fundamental capacity was not destroyed.
