18.53

案僧亮曰：答正善具成就，廣說顛倒也。欲令四諦具足，更說四倒，故是流通也。僧宗曰：上舉境以明智，此明惑以顯解。廣顯解相，故先列其惑相，明於義乃顯。亦如上三修文中，將說勝修，先列八倒也。寶亮曰：答第九問，次明偽理也。智秀曰：上辨四諦，引物生解。但真解難生，憙成僻執，執則成倒也。

Sengliang says: "This answers the question on 'fully perfecting correct goodness' by extensively explaining the inversions. Desiring to make the four truths fully complete, he further explains the four inversions; hence, this is propagation." Sengzong says: "Above, the object was adduced to clarify wisdom; here, delusion is clarified to reveal understanding. To extensively reveal the characteristics of understanding, he first lists the characteristics of delusion; when clarified through the doctrine, it is thereby made evident. It is also like the passage on the three cultivations above: about to explain superior cultivation, he first listed the eight inversions." Baoliang says: "This answers the ninth question, next clarifying false principles." Zhixiu says: "Above, he discriminated the four truths to lead beings to produce understanding. However, true understanding is difficult to produce, and beings tend to form perverse attachments; when they attach, it forms an inversion."
