案僧宗曰：佛昔誓願，盡拔眾苦；苦尚不盡，則荷負未畢。若能皆度生死，則逐聖人之本願，故曰為我也。
Sengzong states: The Buddha of old made a vow to eradicate all sufferings; as long as suffering is not exhausted, his burden is not finished. If they can all cross over birth and death, it fulfills the original vow of the sage; therefore it says 'for my sake'.
