19.70

案僧宗曰：前舉譬，此合譬也。亦名毒藥者，於人不消，亦有毒義。能服行者，念由於信，勸信明矣。智秀曰：顯出藥體也。

Sengzong comments: Previously, the metaphor was cited; here, the metaphor is applied. 'Also called poisonous medicine' means that when a person cannot digest it, it also has the sense of a poison. For those capable of taking and practicing it, their mindfulness arises from faith; thus the exhortation to faith is clear. Zhixiu says: This reveals the substance of the medicine.
