19.72

案僧宗曰：前舉甘露，其旨略顯。更引美譬，彰其非毒。下明愚智兩人，其義頓曉也。寶亮曰：有識甘露者，未幾復引五味喻也。智秀曰：此下四行，第三意重舉譬者，顯藥體是一，而隨愚智為二也。

Sengzong comments: Previously, amṛta was cited, and its purport was briefly revealed. Here, fine metaphors are cited again to show that it is not poison. Below, the two persons—the foolish and the wise—are explained, and the meaning becomes immediately clear. Baoliang says: For those who recognize amṛta, before long the metaphor of the five flavors is cited again. Zhixiu says: The four stanzas below represent the third intent: citing the metaphor again reveals that the substance of the medicine is one, but becomes two according to whether one is foolish or wise.
