案僧宗曰：夫親聞則淳，傳聞則澹。為成上句，明非謬也。智秀曰：諮承有所，無自信之過也。

I note that Sengzong says: "Hearing in person is genuine, whereas hearsay is insipid. This fulfills the preceding phrase, clarifying that it is not mistaken." Zhixiu says: "Having received it from a source, there is no fault of trusting oneself."
