案僧宗曰：下五句別歎，此一句總歎也。寶亮曰：此下皆探取實德以為歎也。此第一，明以利益故來，謂是眾人得道之緣。若使千人為緣，少一人則不得也。

Sengzong comments: The five lines below praise them individually; this single line praises them in general. Baoliang says: From here below, all grasp their real virtues to praise them. This first [line] clarifies that they came for the sake of benefit, meaning they were the conditions for the multitudes to attain the Way. If a thousand people were to serve as the condition, lacking even one person it could not be accomplished.
