20.44

案道生曰：非乳則無，豈從他耶？僧亮曰：若水能生酪，乳復何為？僧宗曰：即他作者，離乳之外，其餘萬物皆稱他。

Daosheng states: Without milk, [curd] does not exist; how could it be produced from an other? Sengliang states: If water could produce curd, what purpose would milk serve? Sengzong states: As for 'made by an other,' aside from milk, all other things are called 'other.'
