案僧亮曰：昔經所明，是二重罪人，聞經不生道果；云何今日能令作因？更申向旨也。

Sengliang comments: What was clarified in the former sūtras was that people with these two grave sins, upon hearing the sūtras, would not produce the fruit of the Way; how can it today cause them to make it a cause? This further elucidates the previous purport.
