23.26

案僧亮曰：餘經所說，理不同故，譬闇也。日譬此經也。重舉兩者聞此經，如天之澤，萬物滋長也。僧宗曰：如《法華》中八十聲聞者，誤也，彼經云「八千聲聞」也。

Sengliang comments: What is explained in the other sūtras, because its principle is not the same, is likened to darkness. The sun is likened to this sūtra. Bringing up both groups again, hearing this sūtra is like moisture from heaven causing all things to flourish and grow. Sengzong comments: The mention of 'eighty śrāvakas' as in the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka Sūtra is an error; that sūtra states 'eight thousand śrāvakas'.
