23.50

案僧亮曰：更以三樹譬涅槃衰滅之時。不解密語，常雨不降，不得常果也。水陸枯悴，譬無人天善也。藥無勢力，譬餘契經也。僧宗曰：此第三炎明三寶衰滅之相，言末代不能流傳也。

Sengliang comments: He further uses three trees as a parable for the time of nirvāṇa's decline and extinction. If one does not understand the secret words, the rain of permanence will not fall, and one will not obtain the eternal fruit. The withering on land and in water is a parable for the absence of human and celestial good. The herbs lacking efficacy is a parable for the other sūtras. Sengzong says: This is the third flame-like illumination of the marks of the decline and extinction of the Three Jewels, stating that in the final age it cannot be propagated.
