23.54

案僧亮曰：譬行經之人，廣上懶墮求利之事也。僧宗曰：加二不已乃至於八，無復乳味。諸惡比丘為利養故，安置浮辭，使理味難解也。

Sengliang comments: This is a parable for those who transmit the scripture, expanding upon the earlier matter of their laziness and seeking of profit. Sengzong says: Adding two parts unceasingly up to eight, there was no longer any taste of milk. For the sake of gain and offerings, the evil monks insert superficial phrases, causing the taste of the principle to become difficult to comprehend.
